Samurai 7

Samurai7 is a Japanese cartoon. It’s also my favorite film.

It’s a reproduced story telling that in the far distant future, there is a village calledKanna Village. People live there are suffering from the Nobuseri(流寇) who are the same as the bandits. Noduseri are the samurai who have mechanized thier human bodies to get more power and become stronger during the World War Three. After the war, they lost their value to fight and they start to grab a great deal of rice and other food from farmers especially the ones in Kanna Village . In order to solve the problems upon Kanna and Nobuseri, the head of the village decides to hire the real samurai who wouldn’t get mechanized to fight against the Nobuseri and save their neighborhood. Holding the big mission, three young guys, Kirara, Likchi and Komochi set up their journeyto find the Seven Samurai.

The first time I watched this cartoon was at my second grade of junior high school. At that time, it was played at only Friday night, three episodes each time at 24:30~2:00. As you can see, the time was very late. Each Friday, I needed to make sure not to fall asleep and keep my mind clear until it started and I would pay my whole attention getting inside the TV. However, when the every three episodes was over, I was always not able to be satisfied and couldn’t sleep well because I was too hungry and eager to know the continued story which supposed to be played in the next week.

Week after week, there were more samurai joining in. My favorite character, also the best one I considered, was KYUZO, who was one of the seven samurai. Suddenly, I found myself falling in love with him. Kyuzo was a samurai who was original a servant working for a merchant that wallows in the mire with the Nobuseri.

Finally he found the true principle in his life and participated in the group to help Kanna Village . Kyuzo’s big goal was to defeat Kanbei, who was as skillful as himself and Kanbei was also a member of the seven samurai after they saved the village.

However, he didn’t reach his goal. He died at the battlefield with a big regret.

I like his cool and the way of life he had chosen. I deeply love him and have talked about him to others very often for years even he didn’t have a good ending..

But in my opinions, he was the best! He always kept silently serving for the village and he didn’t ask for any requite. In the end, he became the most shining one. Once I dreamed of him. In that dream, we ate dinner together in a pure restaurant. There were many fireflies in the air, and then, suddenly he vanished with the fireflies. His life was just like a firefly, brief but sparkling.
